Inclement Weather Information
As we watch the potential for winter weather later this week, Rockwall ISD will continue monitoring conditions and planning accordingly.
If any changes affect school operations, we will notify families and staff directly. If weather conditions impact school operations, families and staff will receive a direct message by phone, email, and through the Rockwall ISD mobile app (App Store or Google Play) so that families can plan accordingly.
Please verify that your Skyward Family Access information is up to date.
Campus Spelling Bee
4th-5th Graders
Scripps Campus Spelling Bee will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025. The campus Bee will be a written test over words and vocabulary. Spelling Bee lists may be picked up in the library.
4th-5th Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books will be held at the RISD Administration Building on Thursday, March 12, 2026. Permission slips may be picked up in the library and are due Friday, October 31st. Battle of the Books will meet during 4th-5th grade lunch times on Monday & Thursday beginning November 10, 2025.
Naglieri General Ability Tests for Kindergarten Students
Per the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirement, all kindergarten students are considered potential candidates for gifted/talented and other advanced-level services. Rockwall ISD will administer aptitude tests to all kindergarteners during the school day from January 26 to February 6, 2026.

Rockwall High School senior and student council president Max Watson completed the National Association of Student Councils (NASC) Distinguished Student Leader Program, earning national recognition as a Distinguished Student Leader. NASC is administered by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

Rockwall High School’s student council advisor, Tim Watson, has been named the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC) District 3 Advisor of the Year.

A total of 27 Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) students from the Dr. Gene Burton College and Career Academy are advancing to the state competition.

Rockwall ISD continues its tradition of strong financial leadership, earning a top "Superior” rating—the highest rating available—on the 2024–2025 Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) report for 23 years in a row.
